PostSubject: Organizing stamps   October 13th 2010, 8:57 am

I have been rearranging my scrap area a little (aren't we always doing that??!) and realized that I really don't use my stamps much. I started going through them and realized that I had some pretty good ones that I hadn't thought about in ages. So... off to Ikea I went and bought one of those tall DVD/CD holders... it's 6 feet tall and real skinny so will fit almost anywhere.... I added mine to the side of a bookcase... Then I got some clear CD holders and removed the black insert and added all of my clear stamps to them after stamping each one on a piece of paper. (I still have some to do)

I put each piece of paper into a clear plastic binder sleeve and into a binder... now all I have to do is create sections in the binder of categories and give them a number and then I will number the CD holder. Then instead of wondering what I have and pulling all those holders off the shelves to look at them, I can go to the binder and pick one then go to the numbered CD holder and voila!! Hopefully this will get me using those stamps...............!!

I put mine in CD as well but they are organized by what they are Christmas, Halloween, trees, flowers, etc. and I put a strip on each cd so I know what is in the case and have them in a CD tower that turns, found that at a garage sale.

I also stamp each stamp into a book ,but still have to hunt the stamp down when looking for one. This is a great idea, TFS Lois!

Great minds think alike Lois, as this is exactly what I do! I use my stamps so much more now that they are organized and i have stamped images of them! It is a bit time consuming to do, but sooooo worth it!!

I have yet to get my butt in gear and organize my stamps so that they are more useable for me. I want to do the same as you Lois (but I will scan my stamps instead of stamping them...too lazy). I spent about an hour looking for a stamp the other night and then found it when I had finally given up and used something else Sad

Oh Lois, you are a smarty! I need to complete this. I have the stamps (of course) the CD containers, but I LOVE that tall stand!! WTG girl!!! Yes, time consuming but oh-so-worthwhile!

I also use the organizer w/ handle from CTMH for my stamps. I love the way the CTMH stamps all come in a plastic envie that SNAPS shut! Somehow with starting with CTMH I think I will be having MORE stamps!

Love your method for sorting my non-CTMH ones, I NEED to get this done. TY for inspirati9on my friend! May I ask approx cost of a stand like yours? (Sorry if inappropriate, u can just ignore!)

Uh oh, there is something wrong with me. I hardly ever organize my SB supplies. They are where they are and I know where that is. If I reorganized I'd have to relearn my system all over again!! LOL!

BUT, having said that, I have been giving a tiny bit of thought to tearing my office apart and making it more scrap friendly. Right now it is organized more with the thought of work in mind. I just don't have my priorities straight, needs to be scrap organized with work as an afterthought!!!! Laughing

I was just thinking along these lines this morning. I've my scrappy supplies in my spare bedroom/office since I had water in my basement at the end of June (been too lazy to move back down but I think I will soon). While I don't have an "organized system" I know where stuff is right now and if I organized, it would take some time to find it all. The thought was particularly about kits - When I had everything up here before, they were all together. Now there are few sitting here, there and everywhere but I know where to look for each one.

I think I'm sick. LOL
