How do you organize the clothing hanging in your closet?

I'm kinda picky about my "hanging" ways. I want all of my clothing to front face the same direction, use the same type and colour of hangers for all of MY clothing, and I organized according to type (shirt, pant, skirt), and then I sub-organize into colour. K... I didn't realize how picky I sound.... until now! LOL

Umm.. I hang the clothes I currently wear on the right side of my closet. Since my closet opens right to left it works. "currently" means the shirts I fit in to.. Embarassed My "skinny" and "fancy" clothes (which have no uses anymore) hang to the far left... f-a-a-a-r-r-r-r-r left... Wink

I am a bit like you Tash1 I hang my pants, jeans on the bottom, light colored to dark colored.
My t-shirts are on the top, light to dark, and then on my other side, hangs long sleeved t's and sweaters, and the 2 dresses I own (actually.. the only ones that fit on the far right side!).

Didn't really think about the color of the hangers, but that sounds like a good idea!!!! LOL!!

Mine and his. That's it! He has his side and I have mine. I do have a shelf for my knock-around t-shirts and for my winter sweaters. He has one for his stuff... I never know what I'll find there! LOL!

I separate tops to wear under jackets, then shirts, then pants & skirts, then jackets. This is mainly my office wear. I didn't think I was picky until I didn't do it that way for a couple of weeks. How annoying that was. I have some things I rarely wear at each end of my closet.

We have a double sliding door closet that is split 60-40. I get 60%'ish and there is a column of shelves separating the two sides. Truth be told there are some of my dresses on DH's side. Wink

I have double rods - so the top rod is all my work clothes. And I'm like Tash, they all have to face the same way (although hanger color is whatever). I try to keep everything separated. Dresses/sweaters/shirts/wraps... then colors together within those sections.

The bottom rod is my whatever clothes. Mostly all my mommy wear: Tshirts, sweatshirts, sweaters and plain shirts. I don't even sort those, I just throw them all together. They all face the same way, but I don't even sort them by type.

I keep all my jeans, pants and skirts in an armoire (sp?). And those are all separated by jeans - mommy; jeans - work; pants - work; skirts - mommy; skirts - work.

And the three drawers on the bottom of my armoire are my underclothes and swimwear.

In the far reaches of each rod in my closet there are clothes that don't fit anymore, or were my favorites and just can't let them go yet. My armoire has some hidden "gems" too. I really should sort it out now that I am talking about it.

I'm with you, Kerri :-) I never knew so many people actually organized their clothes closets! :-)

Mine and dhs are in one small closet. He fold most of our clothes. The only things hung are dressier shirts/blouses really.

I don't really have any organization in hanging my closet. It's really just my dress clothes that get hung up. My jeans and regular clothes are folded on my top shelf.

I don`t really worry about my closet too much. The most accessible things are my work uniforms and the clothes I wear more often. I `try`to purge every 6 months but sometimes it takes a while to get rid of something Sad
