Our sister for this month is the lovely Wanita :-) She's a fellow Canadian, living in B.C.

Here's a little about Wanita:

Tell us about your family: I have been married to my wonderful hubby for 12 years. We have a beautiful blended family of his-Randi 19, hers -Courtney 20, and ours -Patrick 11 and Eric 9. They all give me plenty of photos to scrapbook and memories to preserve.

Who/What inspired you to start scrapbooking? I was first introduced to scrapbooking through Creative Memories around 1996. I lived in a very small town and this was the only way to get supplies but I felt constricted by all of their “rules” as I am an out-of-the-box scrapper. I dabbled here and there and experimented with what I could get but was frustrated by the lack of interesting supplies. I became totally addicted shortly after my youngest son was born in 1999 and our move to the big city opened my eyes to what an LSS was and the awesome things you could buy there! This was also about the time I was introduced to the “online” scrapbooking world…..I was officially home Smile

Does anyone in your family also scrap? My sister is a diehard Creative Memories scrapper and the kids also scrap with me in their own albums. I also got my MIL hooked which works well in most cases because she buys the more expensive tools that I can play with too.

What size do you normally scrap? I started out with 8.5x11 and gradually moved up to 12x12 which is what I have been doing for the better part of my addiction. I also love to scrap 8x8 and smaller for gift or event albums.

What is your favourite colour scheme? Right now I would have to say that it is blue, green and brown. I love earthy tones as opposed to bright colors.

How many hours a week do you scrap? I try to do something scrap related everyday whether it is browsing a new magazine/idea book, working on a LO or project, or just being in my space organizing and planning future projects. The organizing seems to be a never ending process right now…lol.

What is one thing you always find yourself reaching for when creating a layout? INK….hands down! I find it hard to do a layout without some sort of ink on it…lol.

Describe your scrapping style in just three words.
I always have trouble with this question because I feel that my style is constantly changing with my mood. I guess if I HAVE to pick something…..simple and shabby chic?

Tell us about your favorite layout you have ever completed?
If I have to pick just one it would be the layout of the baby cradle that my Dad made. He used wood from my Grandparent’s first bed and he put so much of his time and love into it. My boys both used it and I am hoping that it will be around for my Grandkids to use it as well.

What do you love the most about scrapping? I love being able to take a picture of a family member or event and preserve the memory for us now and for future generations.

What do you dislike the most about scrapbooking? I hate looking at my stack of pictures and supplies and feeling like I won’t ever have enough time to preserve all of my precious memories. Losing my mojo is right up there too…..HATE it when that happens!

What topic do you find the most difficult to scrap? I really struggle with memorial pages. I become so overwhelmed with emotion and grief that I just can’t do it. I have so many memories of my Grandparents that I want to preserve and share with my kids but I just can’t get past the heartache of not having them here anymore. I’m getting choked up just typing this….if anyone has any helpful ideas…..please share!

Have you ever taught a scrapbooking class? Yes. My girlfriend had and LSS and I taught a few classes and Make ‘n Takes. I was a nervous wreck every time but I did it!

Have you ever been published? No. I’ve never had the courage to submit.

What type of camera do you use? Fuji Finepix S1000fd……LOVE IT!!!

What would be your perfect day? Spending the day with my family at the park and walking around an area with old buildings taking pictures of them. My “dream” job is to be a photographer.

I can't imagine my life without ... My family! I can’t imagine my life without them and wouldn’t want to be here if they weren’t with me.

It's so nice to read about you.... I too have a hard time with the memorial photos but after my parents died it helped me to keep them closer...just looking through the photos and getting things in order to scrap gives me more of a feeling of love than loss now... my mother died in 1996 and my father in 2001 and although I miss them all the time, my memories are full of happiness with them.

I, too, have trouble with memorial photos. I guess there's so much emotion involved, that you have to be in the right "frame of mind" before tackling them.
