Please help us welcome our newest sister, and the first for 2010!, Linda Shewchuk
Here's a little bit about Linda. We'll learn more over the next few weeks :-)
Tell us about your family: I am a domestic house goddess, chauffer, secretary, maid, cleaner, launderer, jill of all trades & creative storyteller. I have two fabulous girls – Christina (10 – well ahead in her years and of course is 20!), Shanae (4) – 5 in a week and now thinks that she should attend kindergarten instead of finishing her last year of pre-school. Daren is the man in my life that makes me go grrrrrrrr, and not in a good way ladies lol... 2010 is going to be our 12th wedding anniversary.
We farm 7 qtrs (grain farming) and his main “paying” job is an Oilfield consultant. He is gone for a month at a time or longer, that means that it is the “ladies of the house” rules that apply – that he has a hard time applying, hence the grrr part – lol We also run a supply business (http://cyclonesupply.com/buy/) and are in the process of having a “store-front” in town.
Who/What inspired you to start scrapbooking? Wow, good question… hmmm my first page was of my daughter and I thought – way too plain for me, so let’s see what I can do. Then I discovered Close To My Heart – became a consultant and hello – clear Acrylic stamps!! Since then, I have just wanted to share with everyone and anyone around me – tell your story!!
Does anyone in your family also scrap? My girls, well we do everything together, but they sit with me and work away – they love to show people how to work or create something. When I teach, the kids get in there and show them – lol. Christina has actually been heat embossing since the age of 5.
What size do you normally scrap? For my keep albums I use 12 x 12. I do love the 6x6 ones for ABC books, recipe’s, etc. the 8x8 for journals and storybook ones. I do tons of Altered Art and not prejudiced on what I use – have been known to set the chocolates aside out of box so I could alter it!
What is your favourite colour scheme? Depending on the season really – but I have to say that the Brighter the color, I zone in on it.
How many hours a week do you scrap? As many as I can sneek in on… I mean plan, ya that’s it… it also depends on what is going on – weekends are easier for now. One of my many 2010 plans is that I WILL make the time for ME to work on what I love. I am going to re-do my studio and set up a big kid area downstairs so that we can all be together (maybe even do some laundry there – sorry, dirty word I know), but they kids can play and mommy can “flock & glitter” (say that fast!!).
What is one thing you always find yourself reaching for when creating a layout? A New technique or using a product I haven’t used in awhile. I tell people to make sure they change it up with every page. I do love my bling & flowers though J
Describe your scrapping style in just three words. Creative, fun, unique
