Pumpkins
Pumpkins tugging at their vines,
Pumpkins growing round and green.
Pumpkins hiding in the leaves,
Pumpkins shyly, smooth and clean.
Pumpkins shining in the rain,
Pumpkins plumping in the sun.
Pumpkins blushing underneath,
Turning orange, one by one.
by Heather Mitchell Amey
See the pumpkin fat and round
Lying on the cold wet ground.
Now look up in the moonlit sky
And you will see the bats that fly.
Look oh so careful- ghosts can be seen
Because this night is Halloween!

Jack-'o-Lantern
Jack-'o-lantern ,Jack-'o-lantern
You are such a funny sight
As you sit there in the window
Looking out at the night
You were once a little pumpkin
Growing on a sturdy vine
Now you are a Jack-'o-lantern
See the candle light shine.

Pumpkin's Place
However many pumpkins sit along the pumpkin vine,
The biggest and the roundest one
Is going to be mine.
I'll carve his eyes,a nose, and mouth,
Like no one's ever seen,
Then set him on the window ledge
The eve of Halloween.
He'll celebrate this night of nights,
Atop this special place,
So those who pass beneath his seat will see his glowing face.
Martin Shaw
Pumpkin head
We bought a pumpkin big and round that lived the summer through
without an eye to look at things... and now it looks through two.
It used to be all dark inside when growing on the vine,
but now it has a toothy smile and face that's full of shine.

Jack-o'-Lantern
My son has planned a work of art.
On just what pumpkin will he start?
This orange giant looks just right
To shape a face that is a fright.
The big, round eyes are cut with style,
Triangle nose, a wicked smile.
He lights a candle's small, brave beam
To make that jack-o'-lantern gleam.
Now which one has the brightest glow?
The boy or pumpkin,I don't know!

Wicked witch admires herself
"Mirror,mirror on the wall,
Whose is the fairest face of all?
I'll come close, so you'll see clearer-"
POP! goes another magic mirror.

A Halloween Wish
If I could borrow a witch's broom,
I'd ride far above the town;
I'd see the place where the sun comes up,
The place where the moon goes down.
I'd fly around by the old church tower
And wave to the folk below;
I'd see the haunts of the wise night owl
And follow the fireflies' glow.
I shouldn't care for a tall black hat
Or cat with a fiery eye-
But I'd like to borrow a magic broom
And fly as the witches fly.
Mabel Harmer
A Little Witch
A little witch in a pointed cap
On my door went rap, rap, rap.
When I went to open it,
She was not there.
She was riding on her broomstick
High up in the air!

LITTLE GHOST
I'm such a very little ghost
I've waited all the year through
For Halloween's my night to howl
Please let me frighten you, too!"
